Leaving braids in for longer than eight weeks can damage your hair as it grows. You may also like to get the braids along your hairline re-done after a month or so.

Cornrows are an excellent style choice in their own right, but they're also brilliant for protecting your hair while it grows.
What should I do after cornrows?
To keep your braids looking their best, you'll want to protect your hair at night with a silk scarf. Also, be sure to apply leave in conditioner a couple of times a week.
Do cornrows itch?
It's not the cornrows themselves that itch, more so that they're worn for long lengths of time and this can cause the scalp to become irritated. You can itch the spots without ruining the cornrows if you're careful enough.
How long will cornrows last?
Roughly five weeks to eight weeks. It depends on the exact style, your hair and condition.
